AI quote generation

TaskVan uses Claude AI to write professional quotes and invoices. You need a free Anthropic API key — it costs about £0.003 per quote.

Anthropic API key

Get a free key at console.anthropic.com → API Keys → Create key. Top up £10 and it'll last months. You can add this later and use template quotes in the meantime.

Supabase is a free cloud database. Once set up, every save in TaskVan automatically syncs to the cloud — so your data is safe and available on any device.

Create a free Supabase account

Go to supabase.com and click Start your project. Sign up with GitHub or email — it's free, no credit card needed.

Create a new project

Once logged in, click New project. Give it any name (e.g. "taskvan"). Choose the region closest to you — EU West (London) if you're in the UK. Set a database password and click Create new project. Wait about 60 seconds for it to set up.

Create the database table

In the left sidebar, click the Table Editor icon (grid icon, second from top). Click New table. Set the name to exactly:

jaymate_data

Important: Turn off Row Level Security (RLS) — there's a toggle, make sure it's off.

Then add these three columns (click Add column for each):

Get your Project URL

In the left sidebar, click the cog icon (Project Settings) at the very bottom. Click General. You'll see your Project ID — your Project URL is:

https://[your-project-id].supabase.co

Copy this — you'll paste it into the Project URL field below.

Get your API key

Still in Project Settings, click API Keys in the left sidebar. You'll see two sections — Publishable key and Secret keys.

Copy the key under Publishable key (starts with sb_publishable_...). This is safe to use in a browser.

Paste into TaskVan and test

Close this guide. Paste your Project URL and Publishable key into the two fields in the Cloud sync section. Click Test connection — you should see a green tick. Then click Save all settings.

From that point on, every time you save anything in TaskVan it will automatically sync to Supabase. Open TaskVan on any device, enter your PIN, and all your data will be there.

Each device needs setup once

TaskVan stores the PIN and profile locally in each browser. If you open the app on a new phone or laptop, the setup wizard will run again — just enter the same details and paste the same Supabase URL and key. All your jobs and data will sync from the cloud automatically. You only create the Supabase account once.
